Why a Dialect Coach?
No director or actor wants a stage dialect or accent to detract from the overall production. A bad dialect, an inconsistent or flatly wrong dialect can be very distracting to the audience. At the same time, the American audience (or native audience) must be able to understand the dialect or accent being used.
Dialect 911 gives the actor and director a chance to use the dialect or accent’s most recognizable sounds and intonation, rhythm, patterns of speech (prosody) to make the script up to 30-40% more authentic and humorous, especially if the script was written by a native speaker (you want to represent what they heard when they wrote it).
I also work with a large network of actors and persons who possess specific dialects and accents. I can assure a high level of authenticity when working with these native speaker and they can record lines in a specific dialect or accent as well.
I called my site 'Dialect 911' because I can't count the times directors have called me to say, "My actor is not getting this accent! Help!' That's why we're here....and to help directors see early involvement by a coach gets great results!
